  2. Delegate functional activities and establish supervisory schedules necessary for providing continuous service to public and safe working environment for employees.

  5. Manage the maintenance coordination and extension of transmission and distribution facilities from substations to customers/owners.

Responsible for planning and coordinating designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through field supervisors. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Relay Technician II

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for technician training, complete construction modification, improvements and upgrades to existing and new substations.  Also, responsible for participating in the installation, testing, maintenance, operation and modification of the electric transmission and distribution substation including protective relays, communication processors and equipment, battery systems, fiber optic multiplexers, substation equipment, metering system.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Test, repair and calibrate devices and equipment to complete new substations construction and modifications to existing substations.

  2. Perform substation wiring on Relay Panels, Communication Equipment, Fiber Optic, Fault recorders, etc.

  3. Install substation cabling routes and fiber optic point and connection maps.

  4. Develop and implement mapping points for Substation SCADA system.

  5. Perform field assessment of new projects and determining technical solutions.

  6. Analyze historical trends data to investigate and correct anomalies in the power system.

  7. Ensure proper storage of hard and soft copy test reports for Audit purposes.

  8. Supervise and participate in troubleshooting system equipment and devices.

  9. Recommend modifications, revisions and improvements in facility procedures and methods.

  10. Develop and perform test procedures for new and existing equipment.

  11. Document software protection relay tests modules and maintain relay testing and setting database.

  12. Troubleshooting system faults.

  13. Standby Duty and callout assistance after regular working hours.

  14. Occasional travel to remote system facilities.

  15. Continuation occupational training.

Electric GIS Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for general supervision, assignments, and priorities with respect to the electric system design model in GIS and the maintenance of all Garland Power & Light geospatial related data.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Supervises the Geographic Information System (GIS) department including leadership, motivation, training, scheduling, prioritizing, and assignment of duties.

  2. Monitors GIS for accuracy of connectivity and integrity of asset data. Ensures GIS standards and design rules are followed. Knows & understands GIS operations.

  3. Ensure all GIS procedures are documented and kept current.  Analyzes procedures for efficiency. 

  4. Participate in design, setup and testing of GIS technology projects.  Projects may include GIS upgrades, WFM upgrades, additional GIS modules or other projects as assigned.

  5. Analyze system problems and identify solutions.

  6. Interacts frequently with Engineering, System Operators, Field Crews, IT staff, GIS Consultants, and GP&L Management.  Interpret work requests and  analyzes workflow. 

  7. Assist in managing and maintaining the ArcSDE Distribution & Transmission SQL Database.

  8. Research, recommend, and coordinate future development of GIS functionality.

  9. Uses ArcGIS and ArcFM to create or maintain assets, feeder routes, capital improvement plan maps, preliminary maps, easements, etc. in GIS.

  10. GIS Administrator duties including but not limited maintaining GIS domains, GIS attributes, GIS properties, role permissions and resolving GIS conflicts. 

  11. Participates in professional GIS organization activities.

  12. Ability to communicate technical information in a non-technical manner.

Power Plant Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for ensuring reliable and economical design of power plant equipment and providing project management for Garland Power & Light. Also responsible for providing design drawings and plans for in-house replacement and upgrade of power plant equipment and operating facilities.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Design and lay out drawings for in-house replacement and upgrade projects.

  2. Perform field inspection of construction to ensure conformance to design.

  3. Provide plant reliability assessments and recommendations for equipment replacement.

  4. Provides plant design and development to both internal departments and external engineering design firms.

  5. Review work plans, schedule and revise construction standards, procedures and practices.

  6. Specify equipment and develop documentation for purchase requests.

  7. Prepare oral and written reports for management.

  8. Perform equipment assessment and analysis on plant systems and provide recommendations for improvement restoration of the systems for optimum unit reliability.

  9. Develop periodic reports to convey unit equipment status.

  10. Develop equipment purchasing specifications and scope of work for contract bids.

  11. Establish and maintain a long term CIP equipment replacement plan identifying methods to maximize availability and unit reliability.

  12. Provide daily direction to Intern engineers during employment terms at GP&L.

  13. Maintain engineering test equipment in a professional manner.     

  14. Support capital project development by designing and conducting evaluations of equipment and systems.

  15. Manage major plant projects to guarantee proper development and progress. Administer contractor work as directed.

  16. Provide updates on technological enhancements to improve unit reliability and search methods to continually improve the plant and operational/maintenance parameters.

  17. Develop testing standards and procedures for systems and equipment in to determine replacement or overhaul frequency.

  18. Provide guidance and supervision for Contractors involved in CIP Project programs, major equipment test and projects.

Power Lineman

Responsible for building and maintaining dependable electric service in the GP&L area including overhead, underground, transmission and light system. Also, responsible for installing, removing, and maintaining transmission, distribution and service lines/ equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Repair and replace T&D power lines between generating stations, substations and customers/owners.

  2. Build and maintain transmission/distribution electric system facilities.

  3. Prepare service requests to identify locations and/or causes of malfunctions or problems.

  4. Attend on-site and off-site safety training classes as scheduled by Training Manager.
