Fairdale Transformer Fails
Garland, Texas - Workers remove the damaged substation transformer that failed on Friday March 24, 2000. Customers were without power from 8:51 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. when the 25 MVA transformer located at GP&L's Fairdale Substation failed. Some of the station's buss work also experienced damage. Electrical load has been switched to alternate sources while work begins to replace the damaged transformer. Installation of a replacement transformer should be completed in two weeks. The damaged transformer will be shipped to Temple, Texas where it will under go further testing to determine the cause of the failure.
