Garland, Texas - Garland Power & Light has issued its System Reliability statistics for the first six months of 2000. Electric system reliability has improved 75% when compared to the same reporting period of 1999. It is significant to note the reporting period includes the spring storm season. These storms provide a major test of electric system reliability. These statistics provide strong indications that GP&L's system renovation program is demonstrating results.

Designed to give information the average time that the customers are interrupted. System Average Interruption duration Index (SAIDI) is commonly referred to as the customer minutes of interruption. It is a measure of the response time or restoration time when outages occur and is computed by dividing the sum if all customer interruption minutes by the total number of customers served.
