Garland Power & Light Keeps the Lights On in Garland Even During Severe Weather Conditions
GARLAND, March 8, 2004 - Customers of Garland Power & Light (GP&L) experienced no system lockouts and no major outages during the severe weather on Thursday, March 4, 2004. Only a few minor individual service outages caused by falling limbs were experienced in the GP&L service area.
GP&L service crews handled such isolated interruptions quickly and any outages were short in duration. This is in stark contrast to other areas of the Metroplex which experienced extended outages during the course of the severe weather incident.
"Our electric system performed as we expected it would," said Jim Harder, Director, Electric Utilities. "The investments we have made to maintain and upgrade our system, as well as our tree trimming program, have resulted in a very reliable system for Garland citizens and businesses." |
