| SAFETY ALERT: IMPERSONATION OF A GARLAND POWER & LIGHT EMPLOYEE
GARLAND, Texas, July 6, 2005 – A Garland utility customer reported today that someone impersonating a Garland Power & Light (GP&L) employee asked for access inside the customer's residence to disconnect electric service. The impersonator was not wearing the proscribed uniform and when asked, did not show an appropriate identification badge.
"No GP&L Customer Service employee should need access inside a customer's residence to do electric utility work," said Jeff Janke, GP&L's Business Administrator. "If a customer is approached by someone asking for access inside a residence to do utility work and that person cannot be positively identified, the customer should refuse access and call the police immediately to report the incident," Janke added.
Any customer who has concerns about whether or not someone works for GP&L, can ask the employee to present their employee identification badge or call 972-205-2671 for employment verification. |
