GP&L Hosts Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) Discount Program Demonstration Events
Garland, Texas – August 11, 2008 – Garland Power & Light is once again partnering with The Home Depot to discount the price of compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. This CFL Discount Program is one of several energy efficiency initiatives which GP&L has made available to customers this year.
To help customers learn more about the benefits of CFLs, GP&L will host special demonstrations next weekend. The demonstrations will be Saturday, August 16 at the Home Depot at 3261 N. George Bush Hwy. and Sunday, August 17 at the Home Depot at 2140 Jupiter Road. Event hours are noon to 5:00 p.m. each day.
“I hope all of our customers take advantage of our CFL Discount Program to replace their incandescent bulbs," said GP&L’s David Koliba. "It’s a great way to reduce energy use and save money on utility bills since CFLs use about 75% less electricity.”
CFLs also emit about 90% less heat than incandescent bulbs and can also last up to ten times as long. They can be used in most types of light fixtures, including table lamps, ceiling fixtures and spotlights.
The GP&L-sponsored discounts are available only at The Home Depot Stores in Garland until program funding is depleted or through September 30, 2008, whichever comes first. Customers should look for the n:vision brand of CFLs. No coupons are necessary.
