New Locations Accept City Utility Bill Payments

GARLAND, Texas, September 1, 2004 — For the thousands of customers who pay their City of Garland utility bills in person, the drive just got shorter. Utility bill payments are now accepted at more than 20 remote payment sites, mostly at Kroger stores, independent grocers and gas stations.

Door SignCustomers wishing to take advantage of this time-and gas-saving option can pay by cash, check or money order at the participating retailers. The payments are processed electronically.

To pay a bill at a remote location, the customer will:

  • Bring the bill to the payment location
  • Use cash, check and money order ONLY
  • Pay bill to store clerk
  • Pay a $1.00 processing fee for each bill paid remotely
  • Get (and keep) a payment receipt

"Until now, customers who wanted to pay in person could only come to the Payment Center at 800 Main Street," said Renee Ramey, Customer Service Administrator. "This new system gives customers other options. Early response has been great, and we expect this program to be a tremendous success." Payments will still be accepted at 800 Main Street.

Check out Payment Locations for a complete list of new payment locations.

As part of this new service expansion, Customer Service is no longer collecting late payments at the customer’s door. Those whose payments have become delinquent are encouraged to call Customer Service at 972-205-2671 as soon as possible after making a payment at one of the payment locations.
